PANCH POKHARI TREK

Depart from Kathmandu after breakfast and drive through picturesque hills, terraced farmlands, and traditional Tamang villages before reaching the trailhead at Bhotang.

After lunch, begin a gentle ascent through dense forests filled with chir pine and oak. Colorful prayer flags flutter above ancient footpaths that have connected Himalayan communities for generations.

By late afternoon, arrive at Chhimti, a peaceful mountain settlement where you'll spend your first night beneath star-filled skies.

Leave the quiet village of Chhimti after breakfast and start a gradual climb through thick temperate forests. Before progressively ascending into open slopes where the first expansive mountain vistas start to appear, the trail weaves beneath towering oak, pine, and rhododendron trees.

The forest gives way to large grazing fields as the day goes on, which the local herders use in the summer months. The transition into Nepal's alpine zone is marked by the clear mountain air and more striking scenery.

Reach Chokar Danda, a picturesque ridge-top campground with expansive views of the surrounding valleys and far-off snow-capped peaks, by late afternoon. This is one of the trek's most memorable destinations because the sky frequently shines in vivid orange and pink hues as the sun sets.

Today's trek is the highlight of the Journey. Leaving Chokar Danda behind, the trail climbs above the tree line into a pristine alpine wilderness where the landscape becomes increasingly rugged and dramatic.

Cross rolling highland meadows adorned with seasonal wildflowers before ascending rocky ridges that reveal breathtaking views of the Jugal Himal Range. As colorful prayer flags begin to appear along the trail, you'll know the sacred lakes are close.

By midday, arrive at the tranquil waters of Panch Pokhari, a revered complex of five glacial lakes nestled beneath towering Himalayan peaks at an elevation of approximately 4,100 meters. Spend the afternoon exploring each of the sacred lakes, visiting small shrines, or simply absorbing the serenity of this remarkable alpine sanctuary.

As evening falls, watch the mountains reflect across the crystal-clear waters—a perfect ending to one of the trek's most rewarding days.

Wake up before dawn to witness one final sunrise over the sacred waters of Panch Pokhari. As the first rays of sunlight illuminate the surrounding peaks, the tranquil lakes reflect the ever-changing colors of the Himalayan sky—an unforgettable farewell to this revered destination.

After breakfast, begin a gentle descent through the alpine landscape. Leaving the glacial lakes behind, the trail follows rolling ridges and open meadows before gradually descending toward the tree line. The changing scenery offers a striking contrast, from rugged alpine terrain to lush mountain vegetation.

As you lose elevation, the landscape transforms once again. Crisp alpine air gives way to the warmth of temperate forests, while cascading streams and waterfalls accompany your descent. Along the route, you'll pass small settlements where local families cultivate terraced fields and raise livestock, offering a glimpse into the region's enduring mountain lifestyle.

Arrive at Bhotang in the late afternoon, where a comfortable lodge and a hearty meal await. Celebrate the successful completion of the trekking portion of your adventure with your guide and fellow trekkers.
