THIMPU TSHECHU & BHUTAN CULTURAL TOUR
Embark on a culturally immersive and spiritually enriching journey across two Himalayan gems—Nepal and Bhutan—as you explore sacred sites, vibrant festivals, and stunning mountain landscapes.
Begin in the timeless city of Kathmandu, where ancient heritage and modern life blend seamlessly. Wander through the narrow alleys and sacred courtyards of the Kathmandu Durbar Square, marvel at the panoramic views from Swayambhunath Stupa (also known as the Monkey Temple), and delve into the rich artistry of Patan, the city of fine arts. A warm Nepali welcome awaits you with a traditional dinner and a detailed briefing, setting the tone for the days ahead.
From Nepal, take a short flight to Bhutan, the Land of the Thunder Dragon, where dramatic mountain passes, pristine monasteries, and deep-rooted traditions create a world of serene beauty.
Journey in Bhutan coincides with one of its most vibrant cultural celebrations—the Thimphu Tshechu Festival—a colorful display of mask dances, rituals, and deep spiritual symbolism performed in the courtyard of Tashichho Dzong. These festival days provide a rare and intimate look into Bhutanese spirituality and community life.
Traveling through Bumthang, Trongsa, Gangtey, Punakha, and Paro, you’ll witness Bhutan’s diverse landscapes, visit revered monasteries, and enjoy peaceful countryside hikes. Along the way, discover architectural wonders like the Punakha Dzong, encounter local wildlife in Gangtey Valley, and experience warm Bhutanese hospitality with opportunities like a traditional hot stone bath and a home-cooked meal at a farmhouse.
A highlight of the Bhutan leg is the pilgrimage hike to the legendary Taktshang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), dramatically perched on a cliffside, offering spiritual depth and breathtaking views.
The journey concludes back in Kathmandu with a farewell dinner, giving you time to reflect on a remarkable experience that has woven together the sacred traditions, welcoming cultures, and awe-inspiring beauty of Nepal and Bhutan.

Bhutan’s apple surplus in the 1970s inspired Maurer to purchase two large cider presses from Switzerland. In April 1977, he was appointed as the District Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Officer. Maurer also introduced beekeeping to Bhutan in 1986 and established a brewery in Bumthang in 2006, producing a popular brew called Red Panda.
