SUNKOSI River Rafting
13 days - including 3 nights in Kathmandu
The Sunkosi is one of the three main tributaries of the Saptakosi system. The Sunkosi rises near Shisa Pangma in Tibet and runs south then eastwards through Nepal. The Sunkosi forms the watershed for most of eastern Nepal; it gathers strength from its many tributaries including the Dudh Kosi (which flows off Everest), and produces one of the best runs on Grade 4 water in the Northern Hemisphere.

The combination of beautiful scenery, a unique culture and exciting whitewater with some sun thrown in are the essential ingredients of a magical two week trip in Nepal.

From the put-in Dolalghat to the take-out at Chattra, you will travel 272 km (170 miles) on the river as it descends through remote mountainous countryside. There are no towns or roads on the Sunkosi, hence the raft will be carrying all the supplies and equipment. The rapids on the first two days allow both kayakers and rafters to warm up sufficiently before they reach for the harder rapids below. Kayakers should be able to roll confidently and preferably have some experience of bigger water. It is possible to portage all of the harder rapids if you don’t like the look of the route down.

Optional: As for those having extra days in Kathmandu, the Sunkosi rafting can be preceded by a six days marvelous trekking through pines, rhododendrons and terraced fields to Kalinchok at 10,000’. Towards the end of the trek, they can then join the rafters at Dolalghat to begin the raft trip.

TAMUR
16 days - Trek & Raft combination
with 3 days in Kathmandu
Tamur like Sunkosi is one of the main tributaries of the Saptakosi system, however flowing from the far north-eastern border - from the glaciers of the third highest mountain, Kanchanjunga. It is a magnificent whitewater trip one of the best in the world, with countless rapids of scale 3 and 4 in the 120 km stretch which is done in 7 river days. Valley sides are well wooded, there are good beaches for camping and plentiful signs of wildlife. The river has much more of a feeling of being a wilderness rafting trip than many of the other more popular rafting rivers.

The 4 days walk-in to the put-in of the Tamur river at Dobhan with all the raft gear is just beautiful and unspoiled. The trek takes you along a very scenic ridgeline at 3,000m through beautiful wood of rhododendron and conifer trees with magnificent views of Jannu, Makalu and Everest as the stalwarts in the region.

KARNALI EXPEDITION
15 days - including 4 days in Kathmandu
The Karnali is the longest and the largest river of Nepal. It rises high in Tibet near the holy Mt. Kailash and in 350 miles descends from snowfield at an altitude of some 17,000’ through the Himalayas in a series of spectacular gorges down to the heat and dust of the terai. These factors make it one of the finest stretches of whitewater rafting in the world - in broad terms it is twice as steep, twice as big as such well known rivers as Grand Canyon of the Colorado, U.S.A. The area that it flows through is wild and unpopulated with some of the most pristine jungle scenery in Nepal with abundant wildlife.

Our trip begins by flying in to Nepalgunj and driving to Suikhet followed by two days of walk with the entire raft and camping gear to the put-in at Sauli. End of the raft trip in Chisopani after 7 river days.

OPTIONAL TOURS
The short distance to both Trisuli river and Chitwan National Park which lie in the same direction permits us to operate regular trips at least once a week, thus inciting us to keep this trip as an option and allowing us to accept even last minute bookings for any of your convenient date at least 7 days before the trip date.

Trisuli River Rafting
Thousands of thrilled rafters have written home and recommended this trip to their friends. For many people both experienced and inexperienced, it represents the ideal compromise: just the right length of time, exhilarating rapids but not too difficult, beautiful beaches and great natural history.
